Update 4oD in XBMC

15 Feb 2013 22:53:04

As you may already have noticed, the 4oD app has not been working for some time in XBMC. The reason for this was due to changes in the Channel 4 website and the way they encode the streams.

The good news is that a workaround has been found and an updated version of the app is now available. Whilst most apps in XBMC update automatically, 4oD requires manual updating - once you have updated it this time, future updates will be automatic.

To update, follow the step below:

1. Check the version of XBMC you are running - when you launch XBMC, the splash screen with either say "Eden 11" or "Frodo 12"

2. In XBMC, navigate to Settings > Addons > Install from zip file > > repositories

3. If you are running Eden 11, click on repository.mossy-1.0.6
If you are running Frodo 12, click on repository.mossy-2.0.6

4. Restart XBMC and 4oD should update after a few minutes!

If you dont see atvjailbreak in the list in step 2, go to extras>file manage>add source and enter
If you previously disabled 4od, then you can enable by going to settings>addons>disabled addons

In other news...
Many customers have asked if we are still selling Apple TV's. We have the last few available on eBay store:

07/12/2012 Update
A few customers have reported difficulty in connecting to the Apple TV. If the ping was sucessfull, then unfortunatly in these instances, it would appear the Apple TV has been infected with the IKEE virus which affected all jailbroken devices in the first half of 2012. Dont worry, the virus is harmless and was released to highlight a security flaw jailbroken iPhones - it wont do anything on the Apple TV. In this instance im afraid the only way to upgrade is to re-jailbreak. We can do this for you for £10 including delivery.

1. Make a note of the Apple TV IP address (go to settings>general>about)
2. Download our Restore Program from
3. Extract it to your desktop and run the Apple TV Restore.exe
4. Enter the IP address from your Apple TV that you made a note of earlier and click connect. Once connected, click Restore
5. Wait until you see the Completed message (will take 5-10 minutes depending on your connection).

When you launch XBMC for the first time after the restore, its a good idea to leave it open and running but not use it for 5-10 minutes. This is to give all the available updates time to download and self-install.

No sound from Apple TV

14 Sep 2012 17:33:17

Apple TV (2nd generation) automatically sets the audio output mode for use with your TV or AV receiver. In some cases, however, certain TVs or AV receivers may not properly play audio from your Apple TV.

If there is no audio coming from your TV or AV receiver when using your Apple TV, including sound effects, you should first confirm the following:

- The volume on your TV, or AV receiver (whichever is used for audio from Apple TV), is not muted, and is at a high enough volume.
- The Sound Effects option, under the Audio & Video menu on your Apple TV, is not set to Off. To verify:

1. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Audio & Video.
2. Navigate to the Sound Effects option and make sure its set to On

If there is still no audio when using your Apple TV, try changing the Audio Output from your Apple TV:

  1. 1. On your Apple TV, navigate to Settings > Audio & Video.
  2. 2. Navigate to the Audio Output option.
  3. 3. Push the Select button on your Apple Remote to switch to 16 bit.
  4. 4 Verify that audio is now coming from your TV or AV receiver.
